About Me

Hello!  I’m Tangy!!  (it rhymes with Angie)  I married my first love Pete in 2005 and we now have two little munchkins, Peter and Riley.  (this photo reveals them in their natural state)

We all really enjoy being active and outside!!

and we all really enjoy food 😀

Why A Taste of Tangy?  Well, I like food and I will be giving little glimpses or “tastes” into my life!  I love experimenting with new foods and new combinations and since I grew up on a meat and potatoes diet in Illinois, I have a lot of foods yet to try!  I am also a huge fitness enthusiast…yes one of those people who actually really enjoys working out.  I love running and I love strength training.  I am happiest when I am looking and feeling my best.  Eating right, exercising, dressing up, and having really good makeup (hehe, vain but true!) all help me feel good!  When I am feeling good about myself, I make better choices.  I am a better person.  And it really shines from the inside out.  Cliche, but true.  When I’m feeling good, people always comment on the “glow” that I have.  And when I am not taking care of myself and eating crap, I feel miserable.  Who wants to feel that way??  NOT ME.

I’m just getting back into the workforce after taking time off after each child and a couple dead-end jobs in between.  I hope to finish my education soon!  My current career aspiration is to be a forensic accountant with the FBI.  My first step will be to complete my bachelor’s of business administration degree–hopefully that will start in 2011!  I have to go to the academy before I’m 37, so I have 11 years to get there!  But then again, who knows…maybe there is something else in store for me.  My life has changed dramatically just in the past five years and I can’t wait to see what the next five will bring!

Besides food and fitness, I have a lot of other interests, which include

  • pop culture
  • makeup…I’m a closet makeup freak and I’d love to do makeup for special occasions!
  • beauty.  Also a product freak who is like a kid in a candy store at Ulta or Sephora.
  • Reading.  I love James Patterson, Jodi Piccoult, John Grisham, those silly vampire books no one has ever heard of and most anything, really.  If I had the time (and money) I’d be reading a book a day.
  • and, of course, my family!!

Things I do not like:

  • onions.  don’t even get me started.  I know everyone likes onions and they are in everything and sooo good for you.  Well, folks, I hate them.  I just do not like their flavor.  I don’t buy them and I don’t buy anything with them in the ingredients list.  I don’t eat french onion chips or dip or eat onion rings.  I either omit the onion in a recipe or I replace it with garlic, which I love.
  • politics.  need I say more??
  • dancing.  I was born with no rhythm!  Or with the confidence to just pull something off.  I avoid the dance floor at all costs!
  • cats.  I’m more of a dog person 🙂
  • short pants.  At 5’8, it can be difficult to find the right length!!

I love Jpdi Picoult’s books too! I read almost everything I can get my hands on but at the moment it’s strictly forbidden for me to buy new books because I have way too many already.

    What an interesting career aspiration!!

      Jealous of your books 😛

I know it is different, huh?! But I have always been a little strange! I want an exciting career where I get to use my brains for once!

Tangy, I hate onions too! They don’t like me back either, so I don’t feel bad about it. You might be surprised with shallots though. I had them a few years ago, and if they are chopped up superfine, they replace onions great, without the icky onion texture or flavor. (I heart garlic too – mmmmm!)

well I am glad to know I can eat whatever you make =)

I’m not sure if they like me back or not but they’d probably make my poor, weak, stomach miserable anyway!
